Semarang, 16 June 2025 – As a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and in the spirit of Undip Dignified, Undip Benefited, the Department of International Relations (HI) FISIP Universitas Diponegoro has carried out Community Service (Abdimas) activities that focus on current and crucial issues for the community, namely cyber education to prevent online gambling. This activity involved PKK members from Jabungan Village, Banyumanik District, Semarang City, as the main training participants.
The Abdimas activity, chaired by Dr. Dra. Reni Windiani, M.S., was carried out on Monday, June 16, 2025. As a representative of the Jabungan community, Mr Sarwono S.E. as the village head and accompanied by Mrs. Agung as the head of the Jabungan Village PKK expressed her appreciation for the contribution of academics from the Department of HI FISIP Undip in their efforts to help the community understand and face increasingly complex digital challenges. She also hopes that this activity can have a real impact on the community, especially in preventing the widespread practice of online gambling in the family environment. In this activity, there was a material session given by Muhammad Faiq Adi Pratomo, S.IP., M.Sc., as a resource person. The material presented was still about the phenomenon of online gambling, including the types, modes of distribution, and the social and legal impacts caused. This activity is not only one-way, but also presents interactive discussion sessions that encourage active participation from participants.
As part of the programme outputs, the Abdimas team has also developed and distributed educational booklets that are designed to be practical and informative. The booklet is arranged in easy-to-understand language, so that it can be accessed more effectively and efficiently. This activity is certainly relevant to one of the concentrations in the Department of International Relations FISIP Undip, namely the study of transnational crimes, especially those related to technology-based and financial crimes. In this context, online gambling is not only a social problem, but also part of the dynamics of financial crimes that are committed with bad intentions and often harm society. With the implementation of this programme, the Department of International Relations of FISIP Undip confirms its commitment to continue to be present and contribute to strengthening cyber education for the community. The hope is that this activity will be able to foster critical awareness among the people of Jabungan Village so that they will not only become users of technology but also protect their families and communities from negative threats in the digital space.
