FISIP Undip Presents A Week with Dr. Ratih Kabinawa, Postdoctoral Researcher at FISIP Undip affiliated with the University of Western Australia

Semarang, August 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Diponegoro is organizing a series of academic activities with Dr. Ratih Kabinawa, a postdoctoral researcher at FISIP UNDIP affiliated with the University of Western Australia. The program, titled A Week with Dr. Ratih Kabinawa, will take place from September 15 to 18, 2025, and will include public lectures, discussions, and research experience sharing sessions involving students and lecturers. Dr. Ratih is collaborating with the International Law, Transnational and International Crime, Global Politics and Diplomacy Academic Expertise Cluster.

The series of activities began on Monday, September 15, 2025, with a guest lecture on Cross-Strait Relations and the Role of Political Parties in Taiwan and China, which was open to students. This will be followed on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, by a Guest Lecture by Dr. Ratih Kabinawa on Turning Everyday Stories Into Research Case Studies, which will encourage students to understand methods for developing everyday narratives into academic case studies.

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Dr. Ratih Kabinawa led a lecturer-only Brown Bag Discussion on the topic of The One-China Policy and Indonesia’s Duty of Care for Migrant Workers in Taiwan. This discussion highlighted the link between foreign policy and the issue of protecting Indonesian migrant workers. Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the series of activities concluded with a Sharing Session entitled Winning International Research Funding, which provided practical insights for lecturers on accessing and winning international research funding.

According to Dr. Ratih Kabinawa, this activity is expected to strengthen cross-border academic connections, enrich students’ perspectives on contemporary international issues, and increase lecturers’ capacity in global publications and research. Beyond her week-long visit to Semarang, Dr. Ratih will continue her collaboration with FISIP, particularly the International Law, Transnational and International Crime, and Global Politics and Diplomacy Academic Expertise Cluster, especially in producing international publications.

Dr. Ratih’s presence is part of FISIP Universitas Diponegoro’s commitment to continuously develop an inclusive, collaborative, and globally-oriented academic atmosphere. Through this program, Universitas Diponegoro affirms its role in expanding Indonesia’s contribution to international discourse, particularly in the fields of politics, international relations, and public policy studies.
