2024 IRUD – Summer Course

The IRUD Summer Course UNDIP is an annual program of international online lectures discussing global issues, fostering academic discussions, and broadening participants’ perspectives.

Program Overview

IRUD Summer Course is a short course held by the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang, Indonesia. IRUD Summer Course takes the form of a series of online lectures and activities, attended by international and domestic participants. This program is held annually and concentrates on current issues in international relations, delivered by academicians and professionals in order to provide a vast experience for all participants.

This year, with the grand theme of “Navigating Global Society through the Turmoil World”, IRUD Summer Course aims to be a platform for academic discussion on pertinent issues related to the global dynamics including but not limited to cultural identity, foreign policy, law, peace and security, international political economy, health issue, terrorism, and globalization. Additionally, this year’s summer course aims to facilitate the exchange of cutting-edge perspectives on the issues above. In the last 10 years, the world has faced a huge turmoil. Starting from the emergence of ISIS, a terrorist group that no one ever imagined before, US-Russia counterterrorism contestation in the Middle East, the annexation of Crimea, Brexit, the election of Doland Trump, the Rohingya Crisis, US-China Rivalry in the Pacific, the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Israel’s oppression of Palestine. Therefore, this summer course attempts to foster a deeper understanding, widen perspective, and formulate an effective strategy to navigate the global society through the turmoil situation.

Promote Indonesian culture, especially Semarang culture, to international society.

Facilitate both national and international participants with a desire to learn about contemporary Indonesian issues.

Providing an extraordinary opportunity for both students and researchers who want to deepen their knowledge about the recent dynamics within the global affairs.

Build and strengthen relations between researchers of Indonesian issues

Introduce fresh perspectives on contemporary Indonesian issues.
