Semarang, Indonesia — The Department of International Relations (HI), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), continues to solidify its reputation as a leading academic institution by producing graduates who are now contributing significantly to the field of diplomacy and international affairs.

Safriska Desna Putri, a 2017 graduate of HI Undip, is currently serving as a diplomatic candidate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She shared that her deep interest in global issues and desire to analyze them through an academic lens led her to pursue International Relations. “I believe studying IR has been a solid foundation for my career, which is closely tied to international dynamics,” she said. She also highlighted the importance of key courses such as International Relations Theory and Introduction to IR, as well as the conducive academic and social environment that supported her personal development beyond the classroom.

Marcellino Sirait, a 2019 alumnus and fellow diplomatic candidate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, echoed similar sentiments. He emphasized the strong academic atmosphere and encouragement he received during his time at HI Undip. “It’s not just about what you learn in class; it’s about how the academic community inspires you to explore more, grow intellectually, and prepare for a future in international affairs. HI Undip is the place to start that journey,” he affirmed.

Likewise, Helmy Yahya, a 2019 graduate currently working as a trainee at the Delegation of the European Union to ASEAN, credited his academic training at HI Undip for equipping him with essential skills in writing, research, and analysis. “Courses like European Studies, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Diplomacy have been directly applicable to my current work,” he noted.

These three alumni are just a few examples of how HI Undip provides not only rigorous academic training but also a supportive ecosystem that nurtures professional growth.
