Semarang (March 19) – The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Diponegoro University (Undip), welcomed a visit from the European Union delegation for Indonesia and Brunei, represented by Stéphane Mechati. During this meeting, Stéphane Mechati conducted a sharing session followed by a discussion on cooperation between FISIP Undip and the European Union.
This event took place in the FISIP Undip Meeting Room on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. It began with opening remarks from the Dean of FISIP Undip, Dr. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin, followed by Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, Ph.D., Head of the International Office at UNDIP. It was attended by managers and lecturers at FISIP Undip.
In this agenda, the Department of International Relations at FISIP Undip proposed collaborative activities requiring expertise from the European Union. This cooperation symbolizes a partnership between higher education institutions and intergovernmental organizations in Europe. In addition, this cooperation can also be interpreted as a form of Indonesian public diplomacy, which in this case is represented by actors in the education sector. In the points of the proposed cooperation, the Department of International Relations of FISIP Undip proposes several collaborative work offers in the field of educational development, such as cooperation in the procurement of student and lecturer exchange programs, guest lectures, and joint research.
Stéphane Mechati mentioned that his visit to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Diponegoro University is also part of the European Union’s approach to Indonesia, which is regarded as an emerging power. Hopefully, cooperation and good relations with this will run well. He expressed his enthusiasm to share his experience as a diplomat and negotiator, especially to students.
