Sahzanan Sarah Safira, a 7th-semester student majoring in International Relations at Universitas Diponegoro, won 1st place in the POMPROV Kata Group Karate competition (Central Java Student Sports Week) 2022 organized by the Indonesian Student Sports Development Agency (BAPOMI) Central Java Province.
The 2022 Central Java Province Student Sports Week (POMPROV JATENG) was held on 1-3 September 2022 at the Imam Barjo Auditorium, Universitas Diponegoro, Pleburan, Semarang. The competition was attended by around 200-300 participants from various universities in Indonesia.
As a participant who won karate, Sahzanan Sarah received appreciation in the form of a gold medal and a certificate of a champion.
Sahzan revealed that she prepared for this in a long training before the match. She did it every morning and evening which made her weary. However, it was paid off when she managed to win the race and get to the top of the podium.
“Of course, I am very happy because I can be given the opportunity to make UNDIP proud and especially the IR department. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several matches in the previous period were cancelled, so I was very excited when the matches began to be carried out normally again. Besides, I also feel that I have a big responsibility to UNDIP because I also took my study at UNDIP through the Selection of Outstanding Candidate (SBUB) path. This is what becomes my determination to strive for achievement.” Said Sahzan to the manager of the Department of IR.
Sahzan also gave a message to those who had talents and interests to always consistently train them because efforts would never betray the results.
“It’s okay if at one moment we fall or we lose the match, but don’t forget to keep practising and pay it back in the next match. Keep the spirit guys!”, concluded Sahzan when she was asked to tell her experience to the department management team.
