The peaceful action was called ‘Voices of IRUD’, providing a means for International Relations students to voice opinions and actions for victims of war and conflict in Palestine and Ukraine. This action was initiated and organized by the lecturer Dr. Dra. Reni Windiani, M.S. and Anjani Tri Fatharini, S.IP., M.A. to close the lecture in the War Crimes class with a non-violence action and promote student creativity in campaigning.
This action was divided into 6 orations practiced by 6 groups of students. Starting with Group 6 delivered an oration with the theme ‘Ecocide is Genocide’ which opened the audience’s eyes to the ecocide that occurred in Ukraine as a result of Russian military aggression. Followed by Group 1 with the theme ‘For Every Life: A Tribute to Palestinians’ which voiced a speech as a tribute to the Palestinians. This action was continued by Group 4 with the theme ‘Echoes of Despair: The Russia-Ukraine Conflict Through Their Eyes’ which performed a skit depicting the Russia-Ukraine conflict through the eyes of Ukrainians. The fourth group to show was Group 5 with the theme ‘ICC 4 Palestine’ which questioned the existence of an international court in the genocide of Palestinians. Next, continued by Group 2 with the theme ‘Weapons Silent, Trauma Resilient’ which reminded the audience of the suffering of war victims, and how the trauma affected them. It was then closed off by Group 3 with the theme ‘Voices of Justice: International Solidarity for Israel-Palestine’ which voiced a reminder to always show our solidarity as citizens of the international community for Palestine.
The peaceful action was then closed by the lecturer by taking documentation in the form of photos and videos with all participants. With this action, it is hoped that similar agendas in the future can improve the sensitivity and criticism of students when it comes to humanitarian issues.
