Semarang, November 8, 2024 – The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Diponegoro University, held another guest lecture event open to all Diponegoro University students and the academic community who have an interest in international issues. This guest lecture is entitled “The Role of International Organizations in Indo-Pacific Geopolitics and Geoeconomics: Indonesia’s Strategy in the Region”, was conducted online via Zoom on Friday, November 8, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM (WIB) and continuing until completion.
The event features Dr. Emilia Yustiningrum, a researcher from the Center for Legal Research, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), as the keynote speaker. With in-depth academic and research experience in international relations and legal policy, Dr. Emilia discussed the important role of international organizations in shaping the geopolitical and geoeconomic direction of the Indo-Pacific region. This topic is particularly relevant as the Indo-Pacific becomes increasingly significant on the global geopolitical map, especially for developing countries like Indonesia, which must adapt and play an essential role in maintaining regional stability and economic growth.
The Head of the Department of International Relations also welcomed the event, Dr. Dra. Reni Windiani, M.S. She said that this event is expected to provide knowledge and insight for Diponegoro University International Relations students, especially in international organizations. Dr. Windiani also emphasized the potential for continued cooperation with Dr. Emilia Yustiningrum. This guest lecture event is expected to open the minds of Diponegoro University International Relations students interested in geopolitical issues and the role of international organizations.
The session was hosted by Ms. Nadia Farabi S.Hub.Int., M.A., lecturer in International Relations at FISIP Diponegoro University, who acted as moderator and directed the discussion and question and answer session. As moderator, Mrs. Nadia Farabi S.Hub.Int., M.A. helped guest lecture participants dig deeper into the views and insights of the speakers regarding Indonesia’s strategic position as well as the challenges and opportunities faced in the framework of international cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
This guest lecture is open to all Diponegoro University students, both international relations majors and those from other study programs, who want to enrich their insights into international dynamics. In an increasingly complex and connected global situation, understanding the role of international organizations and the geopolitics and geo-economics of the Indo-Pacific is highly relevant for the next generation of leaders across various sectors.
